to the website of the Anatomische Gesellschaft (AG), the official scientific society for anatomy in Germany. Founded in 1886, it is one of the oldest anatomical societies in the world. The AG is a member of the Arbeitsgemeinschaft wissenschaftlich medizinischer Fachgesellschaften (AWMF), the European Federation for Experimental Morphology (EFEM), the European Animal Research Association and the International Federation of Associations of Anatomists (IFAA).
Our major goal is to promote and develop all scientific and professional aspects of anatomy in research and teaching. This includes the societal representation of our discipline, the organization of international scientific congresses, the establishment and maintenance of international relationships and interdisciplinary exchange, anatomical teaching in the context of medical and dental studies and medical-related courses as well as specialist anatomical training and further education. Moreover, we are particularly dedicated to the promotion and career development of our young members, e.g. through our Young Anatomists (YA) organization.
