The upcoming AG annual meeting 2019: keynote speakers

As part of the upcoming AG annual meeting, we are happy to announce the following keynote speakers:

25.09.2019, 15:00
"Spatiotemporal dynamics of T cell activation"
Prof. Wolfgang Kastenmüller

Director, Institute of Virology and Immunobiology
Institute for System Immunology I
Max-Planck-Research Group
Würzburg / Germany

Wolfgang Kastenmüller, MD Clinical Fellow/Post-Doc, Technical University of Munich until 2008, postdoctoral fellow, NIH/Bethesda USA until 2012, Associate Professor at University of Bonn / Germany until 2017 und since 2017 full Professor, Director of Immunobiology and leader Max-Planck Group “Systems Immunology”, Würzburg, Germany.

His lab focuses on cell-cell communication and interactions in the context of infectious diseases with a specific interest in the interface between innate and adaptive immunity. Using intravital microscopy his lab has identified the spatiotemporal dynamics of lymphocyte activation in the context of viral infections. In particular, his team has uncovered how CD4+ T cell help for cytotoxic lymphocytes is orchestrated. Wolfgang Kastenmüller’s awards include the Dietma-Zumpf-Promotions Preis, the Awardee NRW-Rückkehr Programm, CIG-Best Paper Award NIH, DFG Fellowship and ERC Consolidator Grant 2018.

Dr. Ali Ertürk

Institute of Stroke and Dementia Research (ISD)
Klinikum der Universität München
Ludwig Maximilians University of Munich

From 2003 to 2008 Dr. Ali Ertürk did his Ph.D study at the Max–Planck–Institute of Neurobiology as a student of the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität (LMU), Munich, Germany; he was a Postdoctoral fellow at the Max–Planck–Institute of Neurobiology (2008 - 2009 ) and 2009 – 2014 at Genentech, South San Francisco. Since July 2014 he is an Independent Junior Group Leader at the Institute for Stroke and Dementia (ISD) – LMU Munich, Germany

His lab focuses on the genetics, the cellular mechanisms including the immune system involved in system stroke to identify molecular targets and to develop novel therapeutic approaches.
Ali Ertürk was awarded an Early Stage Researcher (ESR) Fellowship from the Marie Curie program of the EU as a member of “Nervous System Repair” research training network, a postdoctoral program within the Neuroscience department at Genentech, and also received an ERA-Net grant
